Edwards have developed the world's first dual-mode vacuum pump. This allows the user to easily configure the unit to pump very high gas loads and achieve excellent vacuum - from a single pump. This pump has as a fully-featured Edwards motor and a fast-acting inlet valve to seal the pump for suck-back protection. The RV series delivers a high performance pump and broad performance envelope that's quiet and easy to maintain.

The E2M0.7 features a very low sound level of only 43 dB(A), compact dimensions, low energy consumption and low operating temperature. It is ideal for backing small turbomolecular or diffusion pumps as well as general laboratory applications. Fitted in a cabinet, the pump will be virtually inaudible and the low operating temperature will minimize the heat load on the equipment. The E2M1.5 has an interstage version with an additional pumping port to provide a rough vacuum for auxiliary duties.
